Abstract

The objective of this paper is to discuss the development, underdevelopment, poverty and inequality based primarily on the writings of Celso Furtado, highlighting the influence of its ideal for the construction of public policies to overcome these issues. Was initially part of the treatment that is done by the author on the relationship between development and underdevelopment. It approaches the problem of poverty and understandings about the possibilities of social transformation of this population. Called attention to the fact of the extreme inequality in the country, our heritage of economic formation that generated social, regional and sectoral imbalances.
