Socioeconomic conditions are fundamental for determining a set of social indicators. Specifically, in Brazil, it is observed that a significant portion of the young population is in a state of vulnerability. In addition, there is significant evidence that youth vulnerability is strongly associated with Brazilian states that have deficiencies in their socioeconomic indicators. From this perspective, it is up to us to ask: what is the level of youth social vulnerability in Brazilian states? This work has as a general objective to create a youth social vulnerability index for the Brazilian states. The factor analysis by principal components was the method used to elaborate the vulnerability index. The results indicated that the north and northeast regions have the worst levels of vulnerability.
