Given the uncertainties about the sustainability of social security in Brazil, the private pension presents itself as an important alternative for both the citizen and the government. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze how socioeconomic and demographic factors affect the demand for private pension in this country. To do this, data from the 2015 PNAD and the logit model were used. According to the results, the main variables that affect the probability of a Brazilian contributing to private pension entities are monthly household income per capita, education and age. In addition, males, married, who are the reference in the family, white and yellow, social security insured, non-retired and residing in the Southeast, Central West and South Regions, are more likely to invest in supplementary pension plans.
